Founded in 2016, I Like Her Style Vancouver was created by a duo of childhood girlfriends who grew up living across the street from one another. Kyla and Jody spent each playdate dreaming of what their lives as successful adult women would become. It’s no surprise that their journey of life lead these best friends both down paths that connected them at the perfect time to make their dreams a reality.
Kyla and Jody were born and raised in the Lower Mainland. Coincidentally, the duo each spent several years living in Alberta (Fort McMurray and Calgary), but no matter the physical distance between them – their mission to inspire, and passion for style with soul was always in sync over the years. I Like Her Style Vancouver is a women’s media movement that includes the Metro Vancouver-based print publication, an online community and social media platforms. The I Like Her Style Vancouver girls have combined their respective experience in publishing women’s magazines and high-level management at a top-tier international fashion house into the brand that shines a spotlight on popular bloggers, influencers, personalities as well as the fabulous shops, services and businesses that cater to BC’s Lower Mainland women.
Kyla Getty has been a graphic designer and branding professional for almost 15 years, and a publisher for five. Her business resumé includes work in a fast-paced Surrey advertising agency where she had the opportunity to design logos for The City of Surrey, The Centre For Child Development and more. Since launching Gett Creative Inc. in 2009, Kyla has had the pleasure of conducting seminars on branding for business to both business professionals and students. In 2010, while living in Alberta, Kyla launched her first women’s magazine which enjoyed great success – growing into a brand that included monthly and bi-monthly publications, merchandise, a women’s networking group, a women’s social club, a community segment on Shaw TV, and 2 large-scale women’s charity galas. Kyla has always had a passion for style and it exudes through her work with such flare. Her ability to take inspiration from all that surrounds her and create the way she does makes this wife and mom of 2 daughters the perfect communicator for women alike. Her ability to translate a message and a feeling through design has landed her a fabulous reputation and she is looking forward to collaborating with BC women to express style that needs to be shared.
Jody Belanger has been in the Fashion Retail Industry for over 16 years earning her way up the ranks from a part time sales associate to a Regional Corporate role. She spent the first 11 years working for Below the Belt, a Canadian unisex fashion retailer specializing in West Coast fashion trends from global brands. During this time, she furthered her post-secondary education in both business at Simon Fraser University and esthetics at Blanche Macdonald. In 2011, she was swooped up by Guess Inc., a leading global brand she had admired not only as a retail professional but since she was young. Her 5-year career with them started with running stores all over BC’s Lower Mainland and quickly led to maximizing her expertise in a training and development role for BC. Her ability to translate her affinity for working with people into positive results rose her to a corporate level as District Manager in both BC and Alberta. Her final role with Guess Inc. was as HR & Operations Manager of Western Canada, which saw her overseeing more than 100 members of Management. Jody’s key to success is her ability to inspire those around her, discover top talent and dedication to the development of employees. She has a true passion for fashion and personal style, with a focus on staying current and relevant, as well as seeing the value in every experience. All of these skills make this successful, single woman a great ambassador for the immense talent and style that BC women have to share.
