I Like Her Style Vancouver’s Co-Founders are pleased to announce their support of Galentine’s Day – Starry Night, a Fundraiser for Matthew’s House – hosted by Sequel Events. Galentine’s Day is a black-tie, women-only affair coming to the Reach Gallery Museum Abbotsford on February 13, 2018.
The event is intended to give women of influence an opportunity to support a charity right here at home in the Lower Mainland. The goal of the event is to raise $10,000 for Matthew’s House – a facility that supports local families by providing quality care for children who live with complex care needs.
As a busy mom-preneur to 2 daughters (Kyla) and loving aunt (Jody), the founding I Like Her Style Vancouver duo couldn’t be more pleased to get involved as the evening’s emcees. “We understand the vast amount of love and care that each child needs and deserves and commend the work done at Matthews House.” The pair whole-heartedly believe that while it takes a village to raise a child – that same village’s support is paramount to the entire family… especially in cases where complex care is required on a 24/7 basis.
Sequel Events founder, Bernadette Maguire has been moved by the stories she’s heard of how valuable this care is to the families who need it. She sees a direct connection between her faith, her business and her desire to give back. “We want to celebrate the amazing women around us and use this opportunity to do good,” Bernadette says. “We know that people will be eager to celebrate with us and support Matthew’s House.”
The Galentine’s Day will include inspiring speakers including:
- Tara Teng, Miss World Canada 2012 who now works as a Birth Doula and a human rights activist
- Jenna Liesch, pastor’s wife, stay-at-home mom who blogs about her family’s life including their incredible journey with their youngest child who was born prematurely
- Laura Ullock, who serves as the resource development assistant to Matthew’s House
The event will also include quality wine and appetizers, live music and a Silent Auction. A mini-fashion show highlighting local businesses is also being explored.
Bernadette shares, “This is really a great opportunity for women to have a special evening out with friends, celebrate with each other, enjoy a quality event and make a difference to families right in their own community,” she says. “I’m sure we’ll meet our $10,000 goal.”
