The holidays have come and gone and we are all excited to lighten up our wardrobes! As we see Spring styles begin to flood into stores, the cold hard truth is… the Winter chill is still very much in the air. Co-founder and Style Editor, Jody Belanger has rounded up 3 pieces that women can easily incorporate into their Winter wardrobe as we transition into Spring. “These pieces work for every taste, every age – and won’t be going out of style. As we transition through these last few months of Winter and long for Spring, these style essentials are so worth the investment!”

Oversized Mid-Thigh Sweater
The oversized Mid-Thigh Sweater is a piece can be truly catered to ones personal style – with so many colour, material and styling options! You can play it safe and chic with black or neutrals, or go bold and trendy with a bright, hot color of the season.
My top 3 ways to style the sweater are:
- On it’s own with knee high boots.
- Tucked into a pair of denim with loafers or ankle booties
- Paired with a pair of black trouser pants or fitted leather leggings and white sneakers.
The key to remember with this look is that it’s supposed to be loose and comfy. The fitted element of your outfit will be on the bottom. Many women have the misconception that wearing anything ‘baggy’ can be unflattering – and that is far from the truth! For some, the loose aspect is ideal as it helps you camouflage certain parts you aren’t feeling great about. Others may decide to highlight their assets by tucking in the sweater to nicely accentuate a slim waistline. Adding a statement necklace can draw attention to the bust line. For lucky ladies with slim, sexy legs – this styling certainly allows you to show them off!
Whether you’re a sexy stiletto kind of gal or you prefer a low key loafer – a printed version of your favourite footwear allows you to have a little fun with much less courage than rocking a bold printed dress or jacket! Accessories are a great way to add color to your wardrobe. They have always been my go-to style when paired with my blacks (which is 80% of my wardrobe, hehe). Animal prints, especially the leopard print, have NEVER gone out of style! How do I know? Because leopard print is my favourite color, hehe!
Over the years, each time I’ve purchased a leopard print piece, others have said, ‘do you really want to invest in that, it’s not going to stay in style?’ To that question, my answer is always, ‘Do you wana bet?’
Year after year while working in the fashion industry, I would watch leopard pieces continue to roll out on runways and boutique floors alike. Of course, there have been years and seasons where it’s bigger than ever (and they go wild with it), but the traditional print stays. Now, if animal print isn’t your jam then you can enjoy the great floral printed trend right now, allowing you to have some firty fun with a feminine touch.
Double Breasted Peacoat or Trench Coat
This sophisticated look is so versatile and can transition between your casual day time look right into your evening party dress. Style with anything from sneakers to pumps – keep warm in style all the while! I also love that this style of jacket bodes well to all of our seasons here in the Lower Mainland with it being fairly mild for the majority of the year.
The double breasted style allows for room to bundle up with layers of sweaters and scarves when we get surprised with a cold nap. Once again, the options for color make it possible for you to make a style statement to suit your personality – neutral tan, bold red, soft pink, jewel toned, you name it, they’ve got it!
