As seen in our print magazine and online articles, we are proud to have the multi-talented radio host, tv personality and blogger – Nira Arora contribute ‘Nira’s Hot List’:
The holiday season is here and I have a confession! My husband can’t stand shopping – he despises it actually! So we now have a system in place: I go hunting for items that I would love to get for Christmas and then present him with the list of these items and the stores they are at. From there he can pick and choose a couple of pieces to surprise me with. Pretty solid plan if you ask me! I’m assuming you must be waiting for my confession?? Well, I get major FOMO (fear of missing out) when I find items for my holiday wish list and end up just grabbing my favourites way before Santa arrives. I get scared my husband may not get to them on time! At that point I don’t want to be on the naughty list, and have to make a back-up list to give to the hubby! Which is usually pretty amazing as well ; )
Here are the items that I have already cheated with – and I thought that I might as well have some good come out of it! You may be looking for some advice on what to get for your loved ones- hopefully this can list can give you some ideas! Good luck and happy holidays!
Holiday Sweets – Brockmann’s Chocolate
You had me at chocolate! Yes, I admit – I say that a bit too often! I was recently introduced to Brockmann’s Chocolate and I was overcome by a moment of pure bliss! If you have a chocolate lover that you must satisfy – here’s your solution. Also, if you’re that person that loves to take amazing host gifts, again – here is your solution. Or, if you are that person, like myself, that believes you, yourself deserve a moment of indulgence once in a while, yes you know what I’m about to say, ‘Here’s your solution’!
Brockmann’s Chocolate is a family tradition that began in the 1930s in Germany and made it’s way to Vancouver in 1986, when they opened Brockmann’s Tea Room. As the Brockmann reputation for quality grew, they were soon asked to produce chocolates for local businesses and hotels. Today, Brockmann’s Chocolates Truffini and Crunchetti brands are sold throughout British Columbia and in major retailers across North America. Two must-tries are: ‘Crunchetti’ – Brockmann’s newest cluster creation and the ‘Crunchy’ – bite-size morsels made in small batches with toasted almonds and blended with fine quality chocolate. ‘Truffini’ – Luxuriously smooth and creamy signature truffles, made with premium chocolate and the freshest natural ingredients, everyone has a Truffini perfect for them!
Holiday Cozy – Barefoot Dreams Crush Clothing
I have a new best friend. We spend a lot of time together. Some say its not healthy, I just say those peeps are jealous because they don’t have one! It’s the Barefoot Dreams Circle Cardigan from Crush Clothing in South Surrey. This sweater feels like fluffy, soft clouds and I want to live in it always! Not only is it comfy, but its also a good looking must have piece for your wardrobe. Plus if it’s good enough for Oprah… Yes – Oprah! It’s been on her favourite things list and, of course, since then this cardigan has become a hot commodity.
Here’s a direct quote from Lady O-
“I’d live in my PJs if I could—and who says I can’t? These huggable, feathery-soft pieces have a slightly tailored silhouette, so I can wear them for Saturday errands without feeling frumpy.”
Crush Clothing is located at Grandview Corners in South Surrey, one of my favourite places to find the latest trends while supporting a local business! #ImCrushinIt
Holiday Jewels- Luxe Design
I’m super sentimental – and the right piece of jewellery can take me there! Let me introduce you to Luxe Design – one of my all time favourite local original designs. If you’re looking to find the perfect piece of jewellery for that special person, look no further! You can have a piece completely customized to what you want or what you’re looking for. I got a necklace made with the initials of my three kids, plus a protection and communication pendant added. For me, that’s what I wanted to symbolize and put out into the universe – protecting my kids and keeping an open line of communication between myself and them. There is so much to choose from and so many ideas that you are free to discuss with Joanne Hart, the creator of Luxe Design Jewellery, located in Vancouver, BC. The jewellery is a collaboration with her customers to create pieces with deeply personal symbols that express something about the passions and meaning in their lives. Finger print pendants created from your child’s own fingers, collections of all the names of loved ones, inky paw prints made into small pendants, and memorials created from the actual handwriting of a loved one are some of the personal treasures that have come through the Luxe Design studio.

Holiday Glow – The Body Shop
If you’ve read any of my past ‘Hot Lists’ you know that I’m obsessed with that healthy glow- the kind that Jennifer Lopez is notorious for. I’m always on a mission to find products that make it easier to achieve something close to that look. Through my investigations I came across ‘Glow For It’ the limited edition House of Holland Shimmer Puff by The Body Shop.
This fluffy, shimmering powder puff is the perfect gift for making skin glow and sparkle this season. Apply it gently and lightly to your skin. Perfect for highlighting the collarbone and shoulders. Perfect as a gift for a friend and for yourself too! It’s the perfect shimmer for holiday festivities and right into the New Year’s parties. It’s a great size to be able to take on vacations as well. ‘Glow For It’ is super soft, cruelty free and 100% vegan too.
Holiday Chic, Bold ‘Wooden Ships’ Sweater from Little White House & Co.
What can get more ‘Chic’ than this? It was love at first sight for me when I came across this ‘Chic Happens’ sweater by Wooden Ships, at Little White House in Fort Langley.
These great boho chic sweaters are super soft – and have that perfect flattering sexy-slouchy fit that’s effortless and chic. I love how these sweaters can be dressed up with some faux leather to take it up a notch. A leather jacket, black tights and a toque, or a leather mini with over the knee black boots, plus don’t forget the long black leather skirt, black booties, slick ponytail and red lipstick to seal the deal. One of the best features? The sweaters are machine-washable- sold! My absolute-absolute favourite part of this sweater is finding it at Little White House- I adore this tea house, slash haven of amazing goodies that you salivate over just as much as the tea time treats!
