Having a baby? Well, first of all Congrats! Second of all – I’ve been there myself. In fact, I am currently am for the third time! Third of all – here are a few things you can get organized ahead of time to prepare in advance before your bundle of joy is in your arms forever (well, while they let you!) These are some of my must-haves for parents to be. I wish someone had told me about these things ahead of time – It would have meant a lot less scrambling at the last minute!
K’pure Natural Body Care
Trying to be as natural and organic as possible is not only on trend but it can actually make a physical difference for you and your baby. It’s important to pay attention to the products you use while you are pregnant and after your little one is born.
I was introduced to the K’pure brand and was hooked – you can feel and sense the natural ingredients that are used in these products. I decided to look up the brand and was shocked to find out that the creator is a local mom who was on a mission for natural and pure products after she found out that her son had abnormally high levels of aluminum and plastics in his system even though she had been breastfeeding. It turns out the products she had been using were loaded with these toxins and travelling through her to the baby. Hence why K’Pure was born!
Fast forward to today – K’pure believes that what you put on your body is just as important as what you put in your body, and that all natural can be just as effective, if not more effective, than the usual commercially produced products. I was able to try a few products and my favorite must haves for mommy to be are: K’Pure Sweet Babe hydrating body oil for mom and babies, K’Pure Overachiever an organic body balm for anything and everything and K’Pure Drenched Whipped Body Butter so perfect for the growing belly!
Little and Lively
There is so much to choose from when it comes to clothing and outfits for baby to be, but isn’t it an amazing feeling when you find something that’s ‘made in Canada’? I find it to be an extra little perk! Well, clothing company Little and Lively is the definition of shopping local. Their collection is made in Abbotsford – which I find to be a huge incentive. I love shopping local, there is a sense of pride to that, but I also find the quality is next level and that’s definitely the case with Little and Lively. I ordered a few pieces for baby to be and not only is the material exceptional the designs are absolutely adorable and comfortable! Their pieces are functional, stylish and on trend with local flavor.
My favorite is the Rainbow Bouquet Romper – with the matching bonnet of course – its ridiculously cute!
Skip Hop Chelsea Downtown Chic Diaper Backpack
I have two boys who are 6 and 4 years old with number 3 on the way – needless to say – I NEED my hands! That’s why I ordered the Skip Hop Chelsea Downtown Chic Diaper Backpack. It’s the hands-free convenience that I was attracted to. My boys have a lot of energy and running around after them, with a newborn baby girl by my side, the traditional diaper bag was feeling like an inconvenience. I started using a regular backpack with the boys, but honestly wanted something a bit more stylish and functional for a mom. That’s when I saw it – at Lusso Baby on South Granville – The Skip Hop Chelsea Downtown Chic Diaper Backpack! It’s perfect for moms on the run. It has Multiple compartments, including side bottle pockets, and it’s fashion forward. Lusso Baby is my favorite stop for everything ‘kids’ and again it feels pretty good to shop with there because its locally owned and promotes Canadian products.
3D Mom and Baby
It’s all about The 3D Effect! This had to be one of the most amazing experiences of my life – The 3D Ultrasound. I know there is a baby inside of me, I’ve heard the heartbeat, I’ve seen him and her during the Ultrasounds. First, my husband Garry and I found out that it was a boy… and then it was a boy again. But with our third pregnancy, we found out that it’s a girl! After my experience of a 3D Ultrasound, I REALLY know what’s going on inside. It was an amazing bonding experience with my Hubby Garry and my two boys for this latest 3D ultrasound. Sometimes your spouse and older kiddies can feel left out in this pregnancy process, which is understandable. The 3D ultrasound is a way to be able to share something together. Who does she/he look like, counting the fingers and toes, watching the reactions and tripping out knowing that all this is happening inside my tummy! WOWZA! We went to 3D Mom and Baby in Surrey. I would personally recommend it as something to do as a couple or with the family. It’s such a fabulous experience.
There are so many packages to choose from, where you get photos, video, and even a stuffie with your heartbeat recorded inside for baby to be!
CORD BLOOD BANKING – INSCEPTION LIFEBANK
As parents, all we can hope and pray for is a healthy baby – and when your baby comes into the world, all you want to do is protect them. Realistically, you can’t protect them from everything, but there are a few things that are within our control, like storing your baby’s cord blood. Cord blood contains your baby’s perfectly matched stem cells that can potentially treat many diseases. I would do anything to protect my little ones – which made something simple like storing our babies’ umbilical cord blood at birth an easy decision. I chose Insception Lifebank to store the cord blood for my first two children and I recently enrolled to store baby #3’s cord blood and tissue. My collection kit has already arrived and is ready to go to the hospital with me.
Considering how valuable these stem cells are, it’s pretty surprising how easy the whole process is. All you need to do is go online to enroll and you will receive your kit. Then your doctor or midwife will collect the cord blood and it is sent to Insception Lifebank for safekeeping. Cord blood and tissue stem cells can provide new hope for you and your family if they ever need them for medical treatments. I can’t imagine letting them go to waste. Peace of mind is priceless! I encourage pregnant moms to do their research, you can start by getting an info kit from Insception Lifebank.
